I held my Torrance Community Town Hall on Saturday. I had a great conversation with residents from Torrance, including many teachers who attended. We talked about education, including my AB 247, which is now Prop 2, my AB 1825, the Freedom to Read Act, housing, and Homelessness.
Tonight I spoke at the City of Rancho Palos Verdes – Government City Council meeting to support the residents affected by the landslide.
Earlier today, the California Governor proclaimed a state of emergency in the city.
I will continue to work with all levels of government so the residents will be able to get all the resources they need.
Joined my colleague Asm. Mike Gipson, LA Councilman Tim McOsker, community leaders Yolie and Ray Regalado, and many others to support the San Pedro LGBTQ community.

The Palos Verdes landslides are driving longtime residents out of their homes. The Portugese Bend neighborhood has been particularly hard hit, with homes and roads sinking, SoCalGas cutting off service indefinitely for 135 homes, and one of two access roads shut down.
I will continue to work with local, state, and federal officials to fight for more assistance.

Friends of Madrona Marsh in Torrance celebrated their 50th anniversary of preserving our wetland oasis in the middle of the city and educating the community on the importance of the natural habitat and open space.

Held my annual Manhattan Beach Town Hall this morning. Had a great discussion about schools, public safety, housing, homelessness, e-bikes and other issues affecting the community.
We talked about my Assembly Bill 2309, sponsored by the City of Manhattan Beach, to allow the city to prosecute minor offenses in homeless court to address their local homeless population.

Los Angeles Unified School District Back to School program at Disney Concert Hall, with Superintendent Alberto Carvalho and LAUSD South Bay school board member Tanya Ortiz Franklin. Test scores for every grade and every demographic group went up this year, thanks to the hard work of teachers and staff.
