Visited Torrance's Temple Emet on Friday to speak about my experiences earlier this year on an official legislative trip to Israel after the October 7th attack. Thank you to Rabbi Didi for the invitation.
As we approach the Rosh Hashanah holiday and the year anniversary of October 7th attack, Israel's security is still at risk. I stand in solidarity with the Jewish community at this difficult time.
Historic evening for San Pedro's large Croatian American community.
Republic of Croatia Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is the first Croatian head of state to visit San Pedro, home to 35,000 Croatian Americans.
Also attending was Croatian Ambassador to the US Pjer Šimunović.
This historic event brought together the local Croatian community leadership with former LA Councilman Rudy Svorinich at the Dalmatian American Club of San Pedro.
I attended a very informative evening that highlighted the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in our public schools. Panelists talked about their experiences with bullying and harassment. We also heard from experts about how the LGBTQ+ student population had higher rates of depression compared to their peers. We hope the discussion will help to improve the safety of all public school LGBTQ+ students.
I attended the Keiro no Hi Festival, which honors the lives of elderly citizens, celebrating their longevity, good health, and commitment to society. Over the past 60 years, the Keiro organization has been committed to serving the community's older adults.
I attended the Continuing Education for Nikkei Widows' (CENW) monthly meeting at the Gardena—Torrance Baptist Church. I spoke with local residents about issues affecting Japanese-American seniors in the community, from housing to inflation.
Yesterday, I spoke at San Pedro's South Shores Community Association meeting. We discussed littering of the streets, public safety, housing and homelessness, and landslides.
Thank you to President Rich Scandaliato for the invitation. Great to see Councilmember Tim McOsker, and LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn.
I attended the City of Rolling Hills Estates' City Celebration this weekend to celebrate its 67th anniversary of incorporation. Thank you to Mayor Schmitz and the City of Rolling Hills Estates for inviting me to the event.
The landslide challenges are now affecting two cities on the peninsula — Rancho Palo Verdes and Rolling Hills. We are working hard to help the peninsula's residents who have been affected. One of my top priorities is to get the California Governor to come down to the South Bay to view the landslide for himself.
On this 9/11, remembering all those who lost their lives on this day 23 years ago, while honoring our first responders and calling for all Americans to overcome our divisions and come together once again.

Recently, I visited Beacon House, a long-term treatment facility in San Pedro designed to help men recover from alcoholism and drug addiction. They serve around 103 men, and about 75% of the staff are program alumni.
They have a culinary program designed to provide training, workforce development, and employment opportunities while feeding the homeless three times a day at more than five shelters surrounding the San Pedro community.
Thank you to Timothy Shin, Director of Operations, Ivan Rizo Patron, Development Director, Archie Hoggan, Executive Director, and Jonathan Higgins, Chief Compliance Officer.
