My Assembly Bill 557 led to the creation of CA vs Hate, a statewide hate crime hotline and reporting website to provide support for victims and make our communities safer. Today, I joined leaders around the state, including First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, to kick off the hotline's launch.
Hate crimes and hate incidents target entire communities, not just individual victims. Unfortunately, most hate crimes and hate incidents are never reported. This new website and hotline, working with community-based organizations, will provide a statewide network to track hate data, assist victims, and make all of our diverse communities safer.
