Task Force on Inclusive Education Press Conference

As Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, I participated in a press conference and hearing with the Task Force on Inclusive Education members, including the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond. We spoke about the importance of diversity in our textbooks and instructional materials. We called on the publishers of California instructional materials to appear at the Task Force hearing and pledge to protect and provide student access to information free from discrimination. Instead, information should include diverse voices and stories that reflect the student body of California.
