Today I hosted Assembly District 66's "Women of Distinction 2017" event in downtown Torrance. Proud to honor these amazing South Bay women leaders for their hard work and commitment to the community!

Carol Pike Bauer, a former aerospace engineer with McDonnell Douglas, was recognized as the “Woman of the Year 2017”.

Other “Women of Distinction 2017” award recipients included:

• Honorable Stacey Armato, Hermosa Beach City Councilmember • Honorable Martha Deutsch, Torrance Unified School District Board of Education and California State PTA leader • Eve R. Irvine, Chief of Manhattan Beach Police Department • Dr. Sally Hayati, President of Torrance Refinery Action Alliance • Nichelle Henderson, Instructor and Field Supervisor for Cal State Teach • Joeann Valle, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Gateway Chamber of Commerce

This week I officially took the oath to serve on the California Wildlife Conservation Board, which helps to preserve and protect wildlife habitats.  As a member of the board, I look forward to taking on the challenges that we face as a state and global leader in addressing environmental issues that affect our wildlife and our communities.
