I spent an inspiring morning with student leaders at Silver Spur Elementary’s Green Team for Water Awareness Week. Students are participating in a global water challenge sponsored by Grades of Green to encourage water conservation. This effort is spearheaded by Diana Heffernan Schrader from Palos Verdes School Gardens who is also the recipient of this month’s Environmental Stewardship Award. PV School Gardens also runs a garden at Silver Spur among several other schools that is tied to an environmentally focused curriculum. The herbs grown in the garden end up in local restaurants. Also featured is Lora Rica from Grades of Green, Kelli Keller from PVPUSD and Heather Oblon with PV School Gardens.
Another great Saturday morning community coffee, this time in Gardena! Thanks to everyone who came out and asked such great questions!

Martha is the President of the Thirty-Third District PTA, which oversees the South Bay school districts. She also serves as the Chair of the District Presidents for the Board of Directors of the California State PTA. Proud that Martha continues to accomplish so much at both the state and local level.
