Eat at Rudy's is the winner of my Taste of Assembly District 66 Award for February. I presented the award to Eat at Rudy's owner Janis Lee and Sonny Yi at this long-standing institution of Old Town Torrance.
Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi had a wonderful time speaking to Ms. Barker’s 8th English students at Parras Middle School in Redondo Beach. In their class, they have been working on advocacy and advocacy writing. He spoke to them about how to change laws and implement policies.
I was honored to celebrate the life of Dr. King, with Gardena’s 34th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade, and to continue fighting for civil rights for everyone!
Honored to present the December Environmental Stewardship Award to the South Coast Botanical Garden Foundation. I was joined by CEO Adrienne Lao Nakashima, Board Chair Peter Olpe, Lomita Coucilmember Mark Waronek, and garden supporters.
I presented my “Women of Distinction 2017” Award to Chief Eve R. Irvine at the Manhattan Beach City Council Meeting. Chief Irvine has served as the Chief of the Manhattan Beach Police Department since 2011. She was recently appointed to serve as the next Chief of the Torrance Police Department, which will make her the first woman to serve in that role. I’m proud of everything Chief Irvine has accomplished to make Manhattan Beach a safer community and I know she will continue doing great work in her new position.
I also recognized Councilmember David Lesser for his outstanding leadership during his term as Mayor of Manhattan Beach.
