This morning I hosted a community coffee in Gardena. Thank you to the Gardena City Council, City Manager, and community members for attending the event. Great discussion on education, mental health, homelessness and coyotes! Thank you to the City of Gardena - City Hall for hosting us at the City Hall Lawn and for the support from the Gardena Police Department!
Today I delivered $500,000 to Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District to fix their bathrooms at Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Peninsula High Schools.
At the Palos Verdes Council of PTAs event Capitol Comes to the Hill, students at both high schools complained about bathroom stalls with no privacy, doors or locks as their top priority. I heard them loud and clear, and I was able to secure state funding to help fix this problem. Thank you students for speaking up and thank you PTA for your advocacy!
But I was sad to see the aging facilities at both schools over 50 years old. Palos Verdes needs to pass a school bond to upgrade our schools and invest in our communities.

This 3.25 acre campus is a longtime dream for the Friendship Foundation to build a community center to provide job training and support for students and young adults with special needs in the South Bay. Thank you to Rabbi Yossi Mintz of Manhattan Beach who has been the driving force of this dream to build the Friendship Campus, together with Friendship Foundation cofounder Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers, and many other South Bay supporters. I also want to thank Kelly Stroman of the Friendship Foundation for her hard work organizing this beautiful event!
Delivered $500,000 to the City of Redondo Beach to support the city’s Homeless Court Program in this year’s #CABudget! The Redondo Beach homeless court program has been effective in helping homeless individuals find housing and provide them with treatment and support services such as for mental health, alcohol and substance abuse, and job training. I will continue to work with Redondo Beach City Attorney Mike Webb to take the Redondo Beach program statewide!
