Redondo Beach City Council has taken its next step toward the city’s plan to redevelop the AES power plant site, authorizing staff to set the framework for a tax financing district that would help purchase all or part of the site.
This follows last November’s joint press conference, when the City announced its plan to purchase the site, with the support of Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi.
GARDENA — “The Wall That Heals,” a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., was displayed from April 4 to 8 in Gardena’s Mas Fukai Park.
The park was open 24 hours a day for those who wished to pay their respects, including friends and relatives of some of the 58,318 service members killed or missing in action whose names are inscribed on the wall.
Torrance, CA – Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) is proud to announce that he secured $10 million in additional funding over four years for the Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC), an award-winning career technical education program in Torrance. The California Department of Finance certified that SoCal ROC’s financial plan for the next four years was stable and will be issuing the funds.

The formula eliminated many categorical grants and gave K-12 school districts more flexibility to fund necessary programs through the establishment of base funding for all districts, with additional need-based grants.

“For too long, California has been below the national average in per-pupil spending,” Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi, D-Torrance, said in a telephone conference call announcing the bill. “AB 2808 will establish strong education funding targets to provide full and fair funding for all California Children regardless of where you live.”
Torrance, CA – Today, Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance)’s Assembly Bill 1775 passed the Assembly Natural Resources committee on a vote of 7-3. The bill, introduced in response to the Trump Administration’s announcement of their intention to expand offshore oil and gas drilling in federal waters, will ensure that pipelines and other infrastructure cannot be built in California waters to support any new federal oil development.
“We need to protect our beautiful coast of the South Bay and throughout California. This bill would help protect the health of the residents who live and work near the coast as well as the marine environment. It will also prevent any future oil spills,” said Assemblymember Muratsuchi.
