(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) is the co-author of Senate Bill 188, a measure that prohibits the State Lands Commission (SLC) or local trustees from entering into any new lease that would result in increased oil or natural gas production from federal waters and prohibits SLC or local trustees from entering into any lease renewal, extension, or modification that authorizes a lessee to engage in activities that would result in increased oil or natural gas production from federal waters. Assemblymember Muratsuchi says SB 188 is a response to President Trump's efforts to allow more off shore oil drilling.
