Sacramento – Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) released the following statement regarding the passage of the 2017-2018 California State Budget:
“As an Assembly Budget Committee member and longtime education champion, I am pleased to pass a fiscally responsible $125 billion General Fund budget that increases funding for our schools, community colleges, and universities, while setting aside $8.5 billion in a Rainy Day Fund. This year’s budget increases K-14 school funding by $3.2 billion, increases funding for the University of California and California State University to increase enrollment for California residents, and strengthens the Middle Class Scholarship and Cal Grant programs to help make college more affordable. I also fought hard to deliver an additional $10 million for the Southern California Regional Occupational Center in Torrance and $3 million for the California Civil Liberties Public Education program.”
