Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi to participate in Japanese-American pilgrimage to Manzanar National Historic Site, site of American WWII concentration camp used to forcibly house Japanese-Americans from 1942-1945

Will present Resolution ACR 1, establishing 75th Anniversary of President Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 9066 as a Day of Remembrance in California

 

Torrance, CA – On Saturday, April 29, Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi will participate in a bus  pilgrimage trip to Manzanar National Historic Site, the site of an American WWII concentration camp used to forcibly house Japanese-Americans from 1942-1945.    The round-trip pilgrimage will begin in Gardena, California at the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute (GVJCI) and end at Manzanar’s site in Owens Valley, which is at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

He will present Resolution ACR 1, which establishes the 75th Anniversary of President Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 9066 as a Day of Remembrance in California.

Muratsuchi’s wife, Hiroko Higuchi, and daughter will be joining him.
