Sacramento, CA – Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance), Chairman of the Select Committee on Aerospace, recognized “California Aerospace and Aviation Days” on the Assembly Floor today, and introduced guests in conjunction with the event which runs March 27-29.  Muratsuchi spoke to the Assembly about the significant number of jobs the multi-billion dollar industry brings to the State of California.

“Aerospace and aviation are iconic California industries. The state’s Aerospace industry boasts a gross domestic product exceeding that of the state’s film and agricultural industries combined.  More than 200,000 Californians are directly employed in the Aerospace Industry, which brings in nearly three billion dollars annually in taxes,” said Muratsuchi.

Muratsuchi invited his colleagues to join him at a panel discussion tomorrow in the Governor’s Office entitled, “Deep Space Exploration – The California Connection,” which will discuss deep space exploration and include an update on the James Webb Space Telescope.  On Wednesday, there will be Aerospace and Aviation Exhibits and interactive opportunities open to the public on the West Steps of the Capitol.

Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi represents California’s 66th Assembly District, which includes El Camino Village, Gardena, Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, Hermosa Beach, Lomita, Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Torrance, and West Carson.  He serves as Chairman of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and the Assembly Select Committee on Aerospace.  He is a member of the Assembly Committees on Appropriations, Natural Resources, Utilities and Energy, and Veterans Affairs.
