My office presented a certificate to Torrance Dave & Buster’s congratulating them on their grand opening. This new business will be a source of lots of fun and excitement for the South Bay!
Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi attended the Manhattan Wine Auction on June 9th. This annual event benefits the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation. Featured at the auction were fantastic food and beverage selections from across the South Bay.
Torrance Sister City Association (TSCA) is the Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 66. Today is California Nonprofit Day, which gives us an opportunity to reflect on the many contributions that nonprofits make to our communities. Since 1973, TSCA has fostered a fruitful relationship with Kashiwa, Japan, building goodwill and understanding through friendship and cultural exchange. I presented the resolution recognizing TSCA as the Nonprofit of the Year on the Assembly Floor to the TSCA President Hazel Taniguchi.
Great press conference in Torrance announcing construction of the Metro Los Angeles extension of the Green Line! Proud to have secured $231 million in state funds for the project! Thanks to Governor Jerry Brown, Mayor Eric Garcetti, Maxine Waters, Ted Lieu, Supervisor Janice Hahn and Mayor Pat Furey.
At Fiesta Hermosa on Memorial Day weekend, I met CASA LA, the California Court Appointed Special Advocate Association. This dedicated organization gives children in foster care a voice to receive the services they need. CASA serves over 13,000 children in foster care throughout the State of California.
It was my honor to be the guest speaker at the 2018 CSF Sealbearer Reception at West High School. Sealbearers maintain a high level of academic performance while also giving back to the community through volunteer service. I wish these students all the best in their future endeavors.
