I had a great time with the City of Rolling Hills Estates at the Annual Mayor's Ride! Thank you to Rolling Hills Estates Mayor Frank Zerunyan for hosting me and giving me the tamest horse the City had to offer. I'm no cowboy, but I am so grateful to our equestrian community for maintaining this tradition which dates back to the founding of the City. Events like this are one of the many reasons that I love the South Bay and why I will continue to protect our precious open spaces.
Great to join the Torrance community at the Patriotic Concert at Wilson Park today. Thank you Palos Verdes Symphonic Band for bringing live music back in our lives!
On Friday, I visited the hard-working frontline workers who are a part of the Committee of Interns and Residents at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. I stand in solidarity with their strike after months of bargaining for a fair, new contract.
As a former Torrance School Board Member, it was great to celebrate the Torrance Education Foundation's 30th anniversary of success supporting Torrance students, teachers, and staff!
Honored to be invited by the President and First Lady to attend a White House Rose Garden reception for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Great to see many friends, including Congressman Ted Lieu, US Deputy Labor Secretary Julie Su, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu, and APIA Vote director Christine Chen. Also had the pleasure of meeting Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
Enjoyed a tour of Wishing Tree Park last week, which is located on a former superfund site that is being transformed into a new 8-acre park in the unincorporated Los Angeles County community of West Carson.
The project is the result of decades of community advocacy to repurpose contaminated land and transform it into an open space to benefit the residents of West Carson. When completed, Wishing Tree Park will have a wide range of amenities for park visitors, including baseball fields, a basketball court, picnic areas, jogging path and a community center. It is set to open in August.
I support the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy's request for state funding to create a wildlife restoration corridor, restore native trees and plants, and conduct wildfire mitigation.
Thank you for the hiking tour and a beautiful day on the Hill!
Great Pro-Choice Rally on Sunday in Redondo Beach! Led and organized by some awesome high school students from Redondo Beach and Torrance - Zoe Nix, Zoe Eastham, Cecilia Apitz, and Michael Chang.
We need to fight to defend #RoevWade and women's rights. A woman's right to control her own body and reproductive freedom is fundamental for women's equality.
Our daughters deserve the same rights that have been well established for the past fifty years.
As a member of the API Legislative Caucus, this week we recognized the month of May as APIA Heritage Month and honored distinguished AAPI leaders through this year's "Excellence Awards." Each honoree continues to uplift the voices of the API community, enriches our history and culture through their achievements to give us hope and courage in times when we need it most. Congratulations to all!
