Study Tour of Rural and Frontier K-12 Schools in Shasta and Plumas Counties

As Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, I recently participated in a study tour of rural and frontier K-12 schools in Shasta and Plumas Counties with Republican Assemblywoman Megan Dahle.

I learned so much about the generations of poverty struggling to live in the beautiful North State. Over 40 percent of adults in Shasta County have survived multiple adverse childhood experiences. Greenville High School is a frontier high school with 11 students that survived the Dixie wildfire.

California is a big, diverse state, and the Legislature makes policies affecting over 6 million public school students spread throughout the state.

Thank you Vice Chair Dahle and her team for the great educational tour and the wonderful North State hospitality.
