Rancho Palos Verdes city officials gave me and State Senator Ben Allen a briefing and tour of the local State of Emergency area declared for the Seaview, Portugese Bend, and Abalone Cove neighborhoods.

Homes, roads and pipelines are being damaged by land movement accelerated by heavy winter rains in an area with significant bentonite clay deposits. The city is working on a $33 million surface and underground water drainage project to slow down the land movement.
