California Retail Crime Association - Cal-ORCA Conference

This week, I spoke at the California Retail Crime Association - Cal-ORCA conference: "State of Retail Theft in California." There is a strong call from voters for Sacramento to pass tangible solutions to this growing crisis. I talked about that there needs to be changes to Prop. 47. That's why I partnered with the California Retailer Association on AB 2390 this year. This bill would have allowed individuals who have committed multiple acts of theft with an aggregated value of over $950 to be charged with grand theft and authorizes counties to establish pretrial diversion programs for persons charged with felony theft. While it didn't pass this year, I will continue to work to pass such a bill next legislative session. Thank you to Cal-ORCA for hosting this important conference where we can discuss important issues that need bipartisan support.
