Day of Remembrance Resolution

Today is the official 79th anniversary of the day that President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066, which led to the removal and incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans solely because of their race. This, without any evidence of treason or actual military necessity.

I introduced a Resolution establishing February 19, 2021 as a Day of Remembrance in California. I hope that we can all learn from the mistakes of the past in order to ensure that such an assault on freedom will never again happen to any community in the United States.
