In the wake of two mass shootings in just over a month, community leaders and gun violence advocates gathered at an interfaith discussion in Palos Verdes Estates this week to stress the need for gun safety education to combat such tragedies.
Panelists touched on the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas, where gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of his hotel room onto a country music festival, killing 59 and injuring hundreds more, and the Nov. 5 mass killing in Sutherland Springs, Texas, where Devin Patrick Kelly opened fire on a congregation gathered for a Sunday morning service.
