Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: Federal and State Actions

I wanted to share with you some actions and resources for residents of our South Bay area to get information on the State's Covid-19 pandemic response.

Federal Update:

The Federal Government passed two measures in the last two weeks designed to aid those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Whether you are employed full time or part time, a gig worker, unemployed, or retired, you may be eligible for a stimulus payment. Use this calculator to see if you qualify for a stimulus payment.

For more information about the Federal response package, please visit my website, and view this fact sheet.

State Update:

Rent: Last week, Governor Newsom signed an Executive Order which "prohibits landlords from evicting tenants for nonpayment of rent and prohibits enforcement of evictions by law enforcement or courts." This order also stands through May 31.

Mortgages: Additionally, the Governor announced an agreement with over 30 lending institutions who are extending mortgage relief for 90 days. For specific questions, I would urge you to contact your bank directly if you are having trouble paying your mortgage due to a lack of funds created by the COVID-19 health crisis.

Calling all Medical Professionals: Health care professionals with an active license, public health professionals, medical retirees, medical and nursing students, or members of medical disaster response teams in California are all encouraged to join the new California Health Corps.

Small Businesses: Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that will provide tax, regulatory and licensing extensions for businesses. For more information, see the Governor's Executive Order.

For information on unemployment benefits, small business assistance, school resources, and more, please visit the California Coronavirus COVID-19 Respons website.

Need ideas on how to help? See some options on my website, and view this volunteer flyer in English, or in Spanish.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have specific questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact my District Office at 310-375-0691 or email me at Assemblymember.Muratsuchi@asm.ca.gov

We'll get through this together.

Sincerely,
