Coronavirus (COVID-19) UPDATE: HOUSING

On Monday, Governor Gavin Newsom temporarily lifted state law to allow local governments to halt evictions for renters and homeowners, slow foreclosures, and reduce commercial evictions.  Through May 31, 2020, your local government may freeze evictions that are caused by a change in employment or loss of wages due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  At the time of this email, Los Angeles, Torrance, Redondo Beach, and Manhattan Beach have taken action to ensure both residential and commercial tenants are protected from evictions. Other cities are working on adopting similar rules.

The State is also working with financial institutions to identify tools to make sure that Californians get real relief from the threat of foreclosures and to ensure housing security.  Guidance will be forthcoming from the Department of Business Oversight.

For up-to-date information about Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Department of Public Health releases updates daily.  You can also find information on my website.
