Child Road Safety Event

Is your child's car seat installed correctly? It is estimated more than 85% of all car seats are improperly installed. Don't miss out on this free opportunity to have your child's seat checked by certified California Highway Patrol technicians.

Did you know that millions of Americans ride bicycles, but fewer than half wear bicycle helmets? Annually, 26,000 kids experience head injuries in bike-related accidents. Wearing a properly fitted helmet every time you and your children ride is one important prevention method. At this Child Road Safety Event, children are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets for a safety check by the South Bay Bicycle Coalition and the Beach Cities Cycling Club.

This event will provide tips on bike safety and safe routes to school, and is also a great opportunity to discuss any legislative issues or ideas you may have.

Appointments for car seat inspections are full, but walk-ins are possible, pending availability.

Fighting Pollution TogetherLast year Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 617 establishing a groundbreaking program to measure and combat air pollution in the communities most impacted. The statewide program is a comprehensive and first-of-its kind that will address air pollution where it matters most: in neighborhoods with the dirtiest air.

To understand how the AB 617 program will be implemented and how my bill will work in conjunction to address air quality and pollution, I invite you to attend an Air Resources Board Town Hall.

Thursday, April 12
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

A panel of guests will discuss what the goals of the program include and what local jurisdictions are doing to address air quality and pollution. There will also be an opportunity to get your questions answered.
